A 10 second time delay is required at start up by the fire pump controller manufacturers when used with the Cummins Fire Power legacy panel (analog style panel versus the new digital panel).
Background:
At initial power up on Cummins Fire Power engines, the electronic control module (ECM) goes through a diagnostic process to insure the ECM is functioning properly. In this process, the ECM flashes fault lamps, which in turn sends out a fuel injection fault to the pump controller. Therefore, to avoid pump controller latching of this signal, a 10 second time delay must be programmed into the pump controller to ignore this signal at start up.
This condition does not exist with the latest digital instrumentation panel, only the analog version panel on electronic engines. Please feel free to call me with any questions regarding this news update.
